The JV girls basketball team held their ground against Saydel on Tuesday, December 4. The team overcame a deficit from the first half of the game, trailing 12-17. This pushed to squad to only allow eight Eagle points in the second half. The Cubs ended the night with a 36-25 victory.

“As the game went on, we definitely got a lot stronger. We began to work together and start to run an offense and take more shots,” said sophomore Kayla Dunson.

The team was challenged to penetrate their zones after the first half. Many new opportunities came from this, increasing their lead and limiting Saydel’s momentum. The Cubs were led by sophomore Gabby Sampson, who had ten points on the night, and junior Meredith Harter, who had nine.

The girls improved their record to 2-4 and hope to keep refining all aspects of their game. Their next game will be Friday, December 7, at home against South Hamilton.
