1.05 9th Grade Girls Basketball Wins Home Tournament

On January 5, the Nevada 9th grade girls basketball team played Carlisle and Dowling and won both of their games leaving the day with two victories to add to their record and a home tournament championship.

In their first game against Dowling, the girls came out very strong. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 17-8 Nevada. Then after the second quarter and going into half time, the Cubs still led, 29-17.

After the half time the Cubs showed no sign of letting up. After the third, the game score was 38-24 Cubs. And finally after the fourth quarter, the game finished 48-30 with a win for Nevada.

Players Elie Tuhn and Mayzi Weig stood out and helped the Cubs with their win. Tuhn was the leading scorer with an impressive 18 points. Weig had 11 points which made her the Cubs’ second top scorer.

The next game for the Cubs was against Carlisle. The final game score was an outstanding 58-1.

The Cubs played a great game of basketball, holding Carlisle to only one point in the whole game.

Players Elie Tuhn and Mayzi Weig were the Cubs’ top scorers again with 15 and 11 points.

Nevada went into the halftime with a game score of 39-1. For the whole second half and rest of the game, the Cubs did not allow any more points from Carlisle.

The Cubs will take on the Eagles of Saydel on the 11th at home.
