On Monday, January 21, the Nevada 7th grade team took on Boone at Boone’s middle school fieldhouse. The Cubs played an outstanding game and stormed past the Toreadors with a win, 48-25.

The Cubs’ leading scorer was Alec Higgins with eight. Casen Stevenson, Kyle Kingsbury, Nick Larson all had six for the Cubs. This win put the Cubs at 1-1 on the season.

A key moment in the ball game was the second quarter press that created a lot of turnovers for the Toreadors, leading to Cubs’ baskets.

“Our press was working great for the boys all night,” said Coach Cary Thompson. “The press gave us great opportunities to get a lead and stay ahead the whole game.”

The Cubs’ B team fell short 30-25 against the Toreadors, in a close game. The Cubs missed some key shots to get down against Boone in the fourth quarter.

The Cubs’ leading scorer was Breshawn Williams with nine on the night.

This tough loss put the B team at 1-1 for the season.

The C team for Nevada only played a half game, but won 10-0. Parker Peterson and Mason Harold both had four points for the C team.

“The Cubs played solid man ‘D,’” said Coach Thompson.

The 7th grade team plays Greene County at home on Thursday, February 7.
