On April 25th the JV girls soccer team played a thrilling game to beat Pella with a last second goal to win with a score of 2-1.

The first goal for the Cubs was shot by Alex Arnaud from an assist by Katelyn Kingsbury.

In the second half, Pella was able to find a hole in the defense and get an open goal, tying the game. With about 30 seconds left in the game, Reagan Gilliland set up Arnaud for another goal to win the game, 2-1.

“I really thought the entire team elevated their individual play which allowed us to have more success as a team,” stated Coach Mark Rhoads. “After going down a goal the girls showed tremendous grit in sticking with the process that was putting us in dangerous positions and ultimately where we able to equalize and put in a game winner.  Every game this year this group has shown continued growth in their play, and that’s fun to see.”

The JV girls ended the game with 11 shots with five on goal, to Pella’s two shots on goal.

The JV girls play again on May 4th, at Iowa City Regina.
