The boys varsity golf team returned to TCI to take on the rest of the Heart of Iowa Conference on Tuesday, April 30.

Even through horrible rainy conditions, the boys did not disappoint as the Cubs finished first place at conference for the second year in a row.

The Cubs scored an impressive 143 points in nine holes. Second place was PCM with 164 points. Kyle Linder placed first for all conference honors, shooting a 35, Dylan Sporrer, Caden Jones, and Harold Dobernecker all scored a 36, James Carsrud shot a 39.

The Cubs’ whole team finished in the top 12 of the HOIC meet.

“We play better when we think well – it is one our mantra ‘Think Well Play Well,’” stated Head Coach Ryan Brown. “You constantly have to think about your midrange target to put the ball in position to score. I think we got away from that identity in some previous meets – try to push ball up the fairway off the tee or to shape shots when we don’t need to.  When we stay within ourselves and take what the course is giving us, we play well.”

The golf team plays begins post-season play on May 10 at Ames Golf and Country Club.
