The Nevada JV Boys cross country team ran in a tough meet at Humboldt Monday, September 21. The 5K top Nevada runner was Frank Engstrom placing 13th with the time of 21:50. The second  Nevada runner, Lucas Mills, placed 24th and ran in 22:32.

Coach James Mills said it was a warm sunny day, but the course is along a river so there were a lot of bugs.  There were no PRs (personal records), the course was tough and very hilly.

“The course has a huge hill actually named “Big Bertha” that’s the real deal. Some kids had to crawl up it.”

On Monday, September 28, the Cubs ran at their home meet at Hickory Grove, and it was a successful meet for many.

“There was a lot of good energy during our first home meet in three years!” said Coach Mills.

Several runners earned PRS despite rain and a muddy course. The rain had an effect with the runners because the course was wet and the construction at the lake made it almost like a clay track.

The boys JV cross country team will continue to work hard to improve their times and work towards their goals for the season as their year winds down at the conference meet at Saydel on Monday, October 12.
