On Friday, January 26, the varsity girls fell to Roland-Story at Story City. Overall, the girls played good defense but lost 25-40.
“We started a little slow on offense but then got good looks at the basket the second and third quarters,” said senior Hattie Rhodes.
The leading scorers were Hattie Rhodes and Kacie Rewerts with seven points each. Riley Mailey also played well scoring six points, followed by Addisyn Vorm with three and Amanda Fortmann with two.
The team’s goal for this game was to contest Roland-Story’s shooters, and the Cubs felt that they did a good job holding the Norsemen to scoring only 10 field goals.
“For the next game we could work on slowing down on offense so we can get good looks at the basket every time,” said senior Hattie Rhodes.
The varsity girls basketball face Gilbert on the road this Friday.
