On Monday, April 15th, the Nevada girls traveled to Gilbert for a meet competing against West Marshall, Roland Story, Iowa Falls, Forest City, PCM, and Gilbert in the large school class.

Highlights of the meet included Kacie Rewerts’ win in the 1500 meter run, the 4×100 relay of Samara Sharp, Catelyn Sharp, Emily Plate, and Hannah Thomsen placing second overall, and Addi Vorm placing second in the discus.

Additionally, the shuttle hurdle relay is showing promise, inching closer to the school record of 1:16.20 that was set in 2014. On Monday, the girls ran a time of 1:16.55, getting less than a second away. The girls will almost certainly top the time set five years ago by the end of the year as they only continue to improve.

Catelyn Sharp also placed well in the open 200 meter dash, putting up a time of 29.46 and placing third.

Sydney Mosinski placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.61. Both girls ran good races and improved upon their seeded times.

Alongside Rewerts, Elie Thun placed well in the 1500, running a time of 5:44.39 and placing sixth out of 15 entries.

Highlights of the field events started with Vorm placing second in the discus with a throw of 101-11, and junior Bailey Crain placing fifth in the discus with a throw of 94-06.

All in all, the team performed well and coach Ted Johnson found a lot of positives to take away. Johnson said, “The girls are getting better everyday and working hard.”

The team placed fifth out of eight in the class A.
